The climate crisis has been affecting farmworkers from toxic pesticides to extreme weather events such as heatwaves, wildfires, and ice storms. Farmworkers continue to place their health and well-being at risk during these hazardous climate conditions in order to make ends meet.
Now is the time to show up for these frontline workers by supporting their push for paid overtime wages. Despite being essential workers, farmworkers are excluded from overtime pay since 1938 and the legislature has an opportunity to right this historic wrong.
Stronger wages for farmworkers will result in less exposure to excessive heat, wildfire smoke, and other hazardous climate conditions. Learn more on how to support the farmworker overtime campaign by attending the ‘Climate & Farmworker Rights Forum’ on this Thursday, January 27th at 6 PM.
