A Conversation on Racism and Allyship

June 4, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

To say these last two weeks have been heartbreaking and devastating is an understatement. It’s left us all with feelings of anger, confusion and hopelessness. We cannot accept this present day reality to be our future.

What we want to do now is start locally by listening and engaging in dialogue. Let’s get closer to understanding the blind spots we have, how to truly be an ally and how we can come together locally to help support our Black community.

Join us on Thursday at 4 pm PT on Facebook Live for an important conversation on racism, activism and being an ally in Central Oregon. Hear from two Bend-based, empowering women who are working for equality in their own ways:

*Artist and activist Andrea Maria Vazquez Fernandez (@andrea.maria.ensol) helped organize the solidarity rallies in Bend over the last few days.

*Erika McCalpine, business instructor at OSU-Cascades and The Source Weekly‘s 2019 Woman of the Year. She engages equity and inclusion work in her courses and in the community. She heads the Love Your Neighbor forums in Central Oregon.

Please submit questions in advance to info@bendfilm.com.

We hope you join us as we all listen, learn and unlearn in order to foster a safe space for these challenging and necessary conversations.
